Digoxigenin is a plant-produced molecule which is not found in animal or human tissues. The synthetic digoxigenin derivatives is used to label nucleic acid probes for applications such as in situ hybridization (FISH, CISH). The anti-digoxigenin antibody (clone 2G9) has a high affinity to bind DIG-labeled probes, and the detection can be visualized by employing enzyme-conjugated or fluorescent-labeled anti-mouse antibodies.
